Thrift Thursday--Vintage Pinking Shears

Youngest daughter Ib is an avid sewer, and her sewing area is anchored by her beloved early 60's Singer Slant-O-Matic, known as 'The Rocketeer' for its fabulous style. Her machine resides in a vintage 60's sewing cabinet, surrounded by her collection of 60's Singer accessories, all used regularly and new to her, but still going strong after 50 years.

Over the last few years, Ib has collected most of her vintage sewing equipment through lucky thrift store finds. On a recent thrift store foray, we found these fabulous Deluxe Kleencut pinking shears--just what she's been needing, and only$2.00.

From the engraving, I'd guess they are from the 50's. They cut sharply and smoothly--a little steel wool and some elbow grease on the front blade, and they'll be into their next decade!

  1. What a fabulous find; modern pinking shears are hard to work, have dull spots right out of the package and have little to no cachet !~!
